Stephen Kay

Stephen joined Roythornes in June 2024 after spending 20 years at a leading commercial firm, including 11 years as Head of its Real Estate team.

Stephen acts for corporate occupiers and investors in Commercial Property, often undertaking complex and substantial transactions, where his experience, technical expertise and commercial approach help to deliver the best results for his clients.

His extensive experience has ranged from leading teams on multi-million pound deals for national and international companies (including a £500m purchase of 200 properties) to acting for smaller businesses on acquiring or disposing of individual shops, offices or warehouses.  He has also worked on numerous matters involving the strategic development of land, as well as providing creative advice on landlord and tenant matters.

Stephen has been a Ranked Lawyer in Legal 500 and a Leading Individual in Chambers Guide for several years.

Outside of the law, Stephen spends time with his family looking after 5 horses, 2 dogs and 6 cats.  He is also a keen writer of crime novels, having published his first book ‘Blood Money’ in 2023.  The sequel is in the pipeline.
